Chapter 1

Josie is your average teen. She has friends, relatives, enemies and an education! But what is missing in her life?.. Who would of imagined she lived without a father her whole life.
In these chapters, we discover Josie's relationships, likes and dislikes.

Chapter 1 is introduced with Josie causing a simple ruckus in religion class. You think she is being attentive at first but gets a little funny when you find out she's reading a 'Hot Pants' magazine. Josie introduces us with her life and surroundings. She talks about her mother and their love hate relationship. How Christina (Josie's mum) is strict with her and how her mother hates Nonna butting in. She dislikes going to Nonna's every afternoon and talks about how it's World War Three or fights galore when the three of them come together!

Josie see's herself at a disadvantage at school because she had gotten accepted by St Martha's with a scholarship. Why? St Martha's is a school for teenagers who have rich grandparents or parents. She wanted to go to the inner west where all her other friends had gone because they could relate. "They knew what it meant to have a grandmother dressed in black for forty years." They even looked like Josie with "Dark hair, dark eyes" and "olive skin."

At the end of the chapter, we make an unexpected discovery about Josie's father. His name is Michael Andretti, and he is the groom's cousin at the Fiorentino wedding that her grandmother had attended.

"'What does he look like?' I asked later, trying to act uninterested."
... "'He looks like a male Josephine Alibrandi.'"
